Beyond the laughter and tears, the work of One Set Productions actors, board members, musicians, stage crew, technicians, extras, volunteers, production crew is truly hard work.
Firstly, I would like to thank my Heavenly Father for allowing me the gift of creative expression. For keeping me covered by his blood and wrapped in his arms. My life is truly a blessing because I decided to serve the Lord. Writing has always been my passion, and I have been a writer since I was 9 years old. My very first “real” audition was in elementary when I tried out for the part of Cinderella. I was denied the leading role; not because I wasn’t the most talented, but because I did not fit the stereotypical “mold” of how this fictional character was to look. At that time, my young mind was devastated, but- GOD! I vowed that day that I would one day create my own version. Through prayer and perseverance I present to you my first live production – The Beauty Box.
I’m the proud Mother and God-Mother of Marvin, Rashad, Ked, Davin, Darren, Marrisa, Desmond, and Dazzlyn – and many many more. I’m also a Glam-Ma to my 12 amazing grandchildren. I am an educator of more than 30 years – blessed and highly favored. My roots are in Brazoria County where I spent my younger days in the big ol’ town of Old Ocean, TX and early education in Sweeny, TX. A small town girl who has always had BIG DREAMS. I am a high school graduate of Houston, TX’s very own Jack Yates High School.
I am a PROUD HBCU graduate of both Southern and Texas Southern University. I have furthered my education at Texas A&M, where I was employed as an Adjunct Lecturer. I am a natural-born educator, and currently teach College Prep and ELA for Houston ISD at Milby High School.
I am the daughter of Ludwell Taylor and Jacqueline Ingram Taylor. I was raised up in the Church of Christ, Sweeny, Texas under the leadership of Thomas Lemon and later Belfort Church of Christ under the leadership of James Glenn.
